Bespoke Advisory for Discerning Collectors

Grand Wine provides comprehensive wine acquisition and advisory services tailored to the unique requirements of ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and institutional collectors. We do not operate as a conventional retailer—we serve as your private wine counsel.

Core Services

Private Wine Advisory

Strategic counsel on all aspects of wine acquisition, from portfolio composition to optimal timing of purchases and sales. We provide:

  • Market analysis and vintage assessment
  • Estate and producer evaluation
  • Price guidance relative to historical precedent
  • Acquisition and disposition timing recommendations
  • Portfolio rebalancing and diversification strategy
"Market cycles are inevitable in wine, as in all assets. The difference is that wine rewards those who understand both the financial metrics and the cultural significance. This dual appreciation—monetary and aesthetic—is what makes wine uniquely suited to patient, informed collectors."
— Darko Popovic, LL.M
Wine Investment Specialist

Investment & Cellar Strategy

For clients treating wine as an alternative asset class, we provide:

  • Portfolio construction aligned with risk tolerance
  • Geographic and vintage diversification planning
  • Insurance and bonded storage arrangements
  • Valuation updates and market monitoring
  • Exit strategy planning and private sale facilitation
  • Succession planning for multi-generational holdings

Our advice is conservative. We do not guarantee returns. We provide decades of market observation and transparent analysis of both opportunity and risk.

Rare & Allocated Wine Sourcing

Access to wines that rarely enter public distribution:

  • Domaine-direct allocations (Burgundy, Champagne)
  • Château preferential access (Bordeaux First Growths)
  • Cult producer waitlist navigation (California, Italy)
  • Library releases from estate cellars
  • Verified private collection acquisitions
  • En primeur evaluation and participation

Our relationships, built over decades, provide access typically reserved for longstanding négociants and preferential European distributors.

Portfolio Curation & Management

Comprehensive management of existing and developing collections:

  • Reference cellar design for connoisseurs
  • Investment portfolio construction and monitoring
  • Vertical and horizontal collection completion
  • Strategic acquisitions to fill collection gaps
  • Optimal drinking window notifications
  • Ongoing valuation and insurance updates

Provenance Verification & Authentication

Absolute assurance of authenticity:

  • Estate-direct acquisition documentation
  • Chain of custody verification
  • Storage history confirmation
  • Physical bottle inspection (fill level, capsule, label)
  • Third-party authentication when appropriate
  • Counterfeit risk assessment

We decline acquisitions—regardless of rarity or profit potential—when provenance cannot be established with certainty.

Discreet Global Delivery & Storage

Climate-controlled logistics and storage worldwide:

  • Bonded warehouse storage (UK, EU, Singapore, Hong Kong)
  • Private cellar delivery and installation supervision
  • International shipping via temperature-controlled logistics
  • Insurance arrangement and claims support
  • Customs and duty management
  • Confidential packaging and handling

How We Work

Our process is designed to serve your interests, not our inventory.

1. Initial Consultation

A confidential discussion to understand your objectives, preferences, budget parameters, and time horizon. No obligation, no pressure.

2. Strategic Proposal

If we believe Grand Wine can serve your needs, we propose a tailored strategy—whether a specific allocation, a diversified portfolio, or a multi-year acquisition program.

3. Patient Execution

We execute acquisitions methodically, often over months or years, waiting for optimal market conditions and allocation availability rather than rushing suboptimal purchases.

4. Verification & Delivery

Every acquisition is verified for provenance and authenticity. We arrange storage, insurance, and delivery according to your preferences.

5. Ongoing Stewardship

Our relationship continues. We provide market updates, drinking window recommendations, acquisition opportunities, and strategic counsel as your collection and circumstances evolve.

"We are often asked: 'What should I buy right now?' The honest answer is frequently: 'Nothing—wait.' This is not advice that sells inventory, but it is advice that serves clients. Our compensation structure reflects this philosophy. We are retained for counsel, not compensated per transaction."
— Dr. Ivan Von Draxler, PhD

Fee Structure

Grand Wine operates on a retainer and advisory fee basis, not per-bottle markups. This alignment of interests ensures our recommendations serve your portfolio, not our sales targets.

Advisory Retainer

For ongoing counsel, market access, and portfolio management, we charge an annual retainer commensurate with collection size and complexity. This covers unlimited consultation, market intelligence, and strategic planning.

Acquisition Fees

For specific wine acquisitions, we charge a transparent service fee—typically a percentage of transaction value—that reflects the sourcing complexity, verification requirements, and logistics coordination involved.

À La Carte Services

Clients may engage us for specific services (cellar audit, portfolio valuation, provenance verification) on a project basis without an ongoing retainer.

Fee structures are discussed during initial consultation and formalized in our advisory agreement. We do not accept commissions from estates or negotiate hidden margins.

Our services are tailored to principals who understand that the finest acquisitions require time, patience, and occasionally, the discipline to wait.
